Come and explore the practices and know-how about wool, from sheep shearing to spinning and vegetable dyeing to knitting. The Festival du Mouton Ivre (the Festival of the Drunken Sheep) takes place on the middle weekend of June, in the charming village of Gensac, in the Gironde department, postcode 33890, France. The team of the Café Tricot (Knitting Café) of Gensac organizes the event. They invite you to stroll in a scene knitted by them. All year round, the members of the association meet to knit the Yarn-Bombing project which covers the village during the summer. Many artisans from the wool industry invite you to discover demonstrations of their know-how. Spinning, dyeing, weaving, felting, knitting, you will discover the traditional techniques that give wool such extraordinary forms. Exhibitions and activities punctuate the weekend, without forgetting our favorite meeting, the sheep shearing by our faithful shearer, on Sunday at 3 p.m., on the village square!
For 2025, the focus is on sharing & conviviality
On Saturday, June 14, we invite you to a Knitting-Tea walk! A great opportunity to meet up, to meet up to share a friendly moment around our common passion, knitting. Beginners & experienced knitters will meet at 9am to go for a walk. Punctuated by knitting breaks & surprises, we will have a great time before convening in the heart of the village for a picnic lunch (everyone brings a dish to share, and their own crockery and cutlery).
All day long, workshops are scheduled with our favorite professionals to allow you to create knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving projects. The program will be published soon! Reservations will be made online.
On Sunday, June 15, our favorite artisans will come to share their know-how and exhibit and sell their products so that you can leave with wool of unparalleled quality. At 11am, we invite you to the hotly contested Knitting Championship. If you would like to register to participate, send your name, first name & phone number to cafetricot33890@gmail.com.
